ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Pregnant women are one of the populations that are susceptible to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection due to physiological changes during pregnancy that is an adaptive response to pregnancy such as diaphragmatic elevation, increased oxygen consumption, and airway mucosal edema which can also make pregnant women more intolerant of hypoxia. In addition to being vulnerable, COVID-19 in pregnant women may have a different clinical course from the general population. AIM: This study aims to determine the demographic and clinical characteristics in pregnancy with COVID-19 at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Hospital, Bali, Indonesia. METHOD(S): This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study using secondary data derived from patient medical records and carried out in the delivery room and medical record installation at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Hospital, Bali, Indonesia, for the period of April 1, 2020-March 31, 2021. RESULT(S): Of the 275 patients, most were in the age range of 26-30 years (46.55%), in the third trimester (81.45%), and patients came alone (54.18%). Most of the patients came without symptoms with reactive rapid antibody results (60.97%). Of the 197 patients who delivered, 84.77% had CS and 66.55% without oxygen therapy. About 69.69% of patients experienced complications and the mortality rate was 1.09%. The highest birth weight was >2500 g by 76.8%, with the good neonatal outcome (82.92%) and negative swab results (89.45%). Inflammatory markers tend to increase as symptoms increase. Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, procalcitonin, and ferritin were markedly increased from moderate symptoms to severe-critical symptoms. The same was true for ferritin levels, where there was a sharp rise in significant symptoms. Meanwhile, procalcitonin levels have started to increase quite strikingly from moderate symptoms to the highest in severe symptoms. CONCLUSION(S): It is hoped that this demographic and clinical picture would further our understanding of COVID-19 and help us develop methods to lessen the disease's severity and spread to enhance maternal and newborn outcomes. ABSTRACT

The spread of COVID-19 can occur in various settings but most notably in gathering places. Health protocols to avoid the spread of COVID-19 may be influenced by the knowledge and attitude of individuals. This study examined the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of students at the Islamic Boarding School X in Serang City, Banten Province, Indonesia, with the COVID-19 incidence. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study design was used. The study population consisted of 994 students, from which (via the Slovin's formula) a minimum sample size of 285 students was obtained. Data collection was carried out using an online validated questionnaire. The data collected related to age, sex, education level, knowledge level, attitude, behavior, and the COVID-19 incidence as experienced by the respondents. The results showed that most students had low-level knowledge (71.9%), negative attitudes (51.3%), and poor behaviors (53.2%) regarding the COVID-19. Most of the students were infected by the COVID-19 (88%). Statistically, knowledge, attitude, and behavior had no significant relationship with the COVID-19 incidence (p-value>0.05). This study concludes that knowledge, attitude, and behavior are not related to the COVID-19 incidence.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: World Health Organization has declared coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a global pandemic in March 2020. Nations around the world enact prevention measures such as lockdowns, quarantines, massive testing, and tracing policies. Prevention measures against the pandemic may result in less opportunities for urology residents to learn. This study aims to investigate the difference in urology residency in Indonesia before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods: This research is a cross-sectional study. Authors analyzed 147 urology residents across five urology education centers in Indonesia who fulfilled a self-administered online questionnaire. Participants were asked about their objective and subjective experience regarding urology residency, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: Change in urology education paradigm in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic is agreed upon by 95.91% participants, 57.82% thinks it brings negative causes negative consequences. Anxiety toward competence level is felt by 70.06% of participants. Reduced opportunities to learn, especially surgical skills may lead to this result. Overall mental health condition of participants does not significantly change. Multiple factors may contribute to this result. Conclusion: As changes and adaptations are inevitable, more attention should be brought to residents' competence level while maintaining COVID-19 prevention protocol. This is the first nationwide survey showing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on urology education system in Indonesia. ABSTRACT

Background: Theoretically, pregnant women are more susceptible to infection of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and severe pneumonia due to presentation of physiological changes adaptation and immunosuppression during pregnancy. Based on the immune clock theory, if pregnant women had COVID-19 in the first and third it can appearance of cytokine storm due to hyperinflammation state, and lead to poor maternal and neonatal outcomes. Hyperinflammation state is characterized by an increase in inflammatory biomarkers in the serum, including the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin levels. This study aims to determine the characteristic of NLR, CRP, and procalcitonin in pregnancy with COVID-19 at Sanglah General Hospital, Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional descriptive study using secondary data from patient’s medical records and is conducted in the delivery room and medical record department at Sanglah General Hospital, Denpasar from April 2020 to April 2021. Result: Pregnancy cases with COVID-19 in this study were in the 26–30-year age group, as much as 26 cases (37.14%) with most common comorbidities found were preeclampsia and electrolyte imbalance, as much as nine cases each (12.86%). Most of the neonates born at term, with birth weight 2,500 gm, and vigorous baby. The highest median NLR value was found in pregnant women with COVID-19 in comorbid with obesity, 6.79 (2.88–9.14). In this study, the cases with a length of stay more than or 10 days had a median NLR value of 6.93 (2.57–20.69), CRP 59.83 (1.60–151.56), and procalcitonin 0.145 (0.03–2.56), which are all higher than those whose length of stay was less than 10 days. Conclusion: NLR, CRP, and procalcitonin values are affected by the trimester of pregnancy, the maternal comorbidities, the commonly found chest X-ray features, the length of hospital stay, the prognostic value to be determined to find the disease severity, the needs of oxygen supplementation, and the intensive care treatment, and also they could be the predictors for neonatal outcome in pregnancy with COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread globally starting from late 2019. The WHO declared it a global pandemic in March 2020, causing nations around the world to introduce various control measures to halt the rapid spread of the disease, such as quarantines, lockdowns, and work from home (WFH) policies. These policies often force people to spend more time at home with their cohabitants, or possibly sexual partners. Various negative feelings experienced during those policies are considered to affect the general mood and sexual life of the population. This study aimed to investigate the difference in mood and sexual activity before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: This research was a cross-sectional pilot study. Authors collected data from 131 randomly selected, sexually active volunteer subjects using a self-administered online questionnaire. Subjects' mood status, behavior, and frequency of sexual intercourse before and during COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia were analyzed. RESULTS: Subjects consisted of 67 (51.1%) men and 64 (48.9%) women. Our analysis shows that there was a decline in overall mood scale, and also sexual activity frequency, before and during the pandemic (4.63 vs. 4.03; 80.2% vs. 67.9%, respectively). The COVID-19 pandemic control measures may enable subjects to have more time with their sexual partners at home, but it does not increase the frequency of their sexual activities. CONCLUSION: There was a slight decrease in overall mood scale and sexual activity frequency during the COVID-19 pandemic recorded among subjects. The authors suspect that depression symptoms, fear, anxiety, irritability, boredom, confusion, and feeling of being isolated experienced during strict pandemic control measures, caused by stressors such as job loss, decreased monthly income, and the current state of the pandemic are influencing these phenomena.

ABSTRACT

The Indonesian Government established a social distancing policy to prevent COVID-19 transmission. However, this implementation will be ineffective withoutthe compliance of the people. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between public perception and obedience with social distancing in terms of thevariables based on the Health Belief Model. This study used a cross-sectional design with a population of Daerah Khusus Ibukota(DKI) Jakarta's indigeneswithin the productive age of 15-64 years. The sample comprised 408 participants, with the independent variables of sociodemographics (age, gender, occupation, and education) and health beliefs (perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, and self-efficacy). Meanwhile, obedience to social distancingwas the dependent variable. Data were obtained through an online questionnaire and evaluated with the bivariate and multivariate analysis using Chi-squareand logistic regression tests. Gender (OR = 2.327;95% CI = 1.404-3.857) and perceived self-efficacy (OR = 2.609;95% CI = 1.726-3.945) were significantlyrelated to social distancing obedience. Meanwhile, no statistical correlation (p-value>0.05) was found with sociodemographics, perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, and barriers. The males with low self-efficacy were more likely to disobey the social distancing policies. The individual's self-efficacy perception increased with their level of obedience to social distancing policies. © 2022 Universitas Indonesia, Faculty of public health. All Rights Reserved.

ABSTRACT

Global aviation has experienced many crises in the past, each of which has had a significant impact on air traffic. After each fall, the industry recovers and returns stronger, exceeding the previous volume of traffic;however, the COVID-19 pandemic presents a new level of concern, with unknown detrimental effects. The airlines, airports and all other partners involved have greatly suffered. The airport system has been hit by flight closures in many markets, including Indonesia. Airport management and operating companies, concessionaires, terminal tenants, ground handling and catering companies, and the various partners involved are under stress and financial constraints due to the pandemic. In response to this, the flight plan for the "new normal" takes into account the new flight demand and airline market structure scenarios. By using the qualitative approach, this research tries to construct recovery models and strategies for the Indonesian aviation industry post-pandemic. Results show several scenarios, classified as optimistic, moderate, and conservative for the recovery of the industry. This requires the construction of a business model through the V-shape, U-shape, Prolonged U-shape, L-shape and W shape. In striving for the recovery of the aviation industry, three strategies are needed: survival, growth and sustainability.

ABSTRACT

Immunization is one of the most cost-effective interventions in global health and has a crucial role in achieving 14 of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). The issue of sustainable financing for new vaccines is particularly pertinent as Indonesia transitions away from extensive Gavi support towards a self-financing immunization system. As the current immunization system transitions, practical solutions must be found and applied to provide more flexibility in the budget for financing immunizations without sacrificing the current healthcare system’s needs. Despite the fact that economic evaluation studies are essential as an initial step to ensure financial readiness, the lack of reliable data is the first barrier to Indonesia’s journey toward a self-financing immunization system. To overcome this problem, standardization of data collection strategies and methodologies are required. In particular, Indonesia may have to explore other options to increase revenue for its immunization system, such as through general revenue from the central government, a sector-wide approach to financing, and a national trust fund. To deal with the tight immunization budget and its consequences, Indonesia also has to restructure its immunization system, which can be implemented through province block grants, insurance mandate and subsidy. Taking the potential of a COVID-19 vaccine into account, the Indonesian government should consider a number of costs and issues beyond the development and procurement of vaccines. The costs of delivering vaccines to the remote parts of Indonesia, implementing the necessary infrastructure, and modifying vaccine delivery are also important in this time of transition. These constraints must be addressed in the new self-financing system and other public health efforts must be increased to decrease the burden of infectious disease as Indonesia develops a stronger immunization system. © 2020, MDPI AG.
